Space Time Continuum and Wormholes

SPACE TIME CONTINUUM : Vidushi Mishra | thesocialcomment  ESA - Spacetime curvature

Imagine universe as a sheet of fabric. On which if we keep any object, it bends due to its gravity or mass. This fabric has four-dimensions - length, breadth, height/depth. The other dimension is time, which is not exactly a dimension but is taken so. In image 2, there is a red planet (assume it to be mars) which is causing the fabric to bend, this is due to mass and also the gravity of Mars. Now take a look at the yellow ball (assume it to be sun), what do you observe. The curve of the sun compared to that of mars is greater. This is because the sun has more mass, hence more gravity while mars.

Understanding gravity—warps and ripples in space and time - Curious

Now, this picture explains us a lot. Firstly, the sun has a lot of mass and gravity than the earth. Secondly, if we were to perform a miniature of the same experiment on trampoline, with two balls having different masses (one is lesser than the other). When we drop the two balls, the ball with less mass tends to move towards the one with more mass, due to the slope.

Gravity Visualized - YouTube

The same is the case with our earth, it tends to move not only because of sun's gravity, but when we apply space time continuum concept, it moves due to the slope. We do not fall into sun as sun pulls us by our gravity but we miss falling into it. How? Take a thread and tie it to anything spin it around. What do you observe? We pull the thread but it isn't falling into our hands, this is due to centripetal force.

The Space Time Continuum concept is really interesting and amazing. One such interesting thing related to it is a Wormhole. Wormholes are the holes (rather a theory) that explains teleportation (moving from one place to another). Look at the picture below:

This is a theoretical wormhole, which explains teleportation. Consider the place with blue color is a dimension or a place and the yellow one is another, there is a gap that connects the two places. The U-shape is formed by gravity. The more the U, the more the gravity and vice versa.

What effect does a black hole have on the fabric of space time? - Quora

There may be a chance that black holes are a type of wormholes. But here nature comes to rescue. The deeper the U the narrower the path. This means that if we were to find a wormhole we would be spagettified. Spagettification is where you will become like a noodle, this is caused due to the narrowness of continuum. We experience this at the singularity of a black hole also.
